Description
Lanolin is a by-product of the wool industry and is chemically a long-chain wax ester that combines with human sebum. This compound, also known as wool fat, is not technically glyceride, in fact it is not fat and is considered wax.
This compound is a powerful hydrating substance that is naturally produced by animals and is found in fleece. Unrefined lanolin has been used by various cultures for thousands of years, and refined lanolin has been used in the formulation of cosmetics and ointments for over a hundred years.
Wool oil or lanolin is an amber or yellow protective moisturizer with emollient properties and is widely found in cosmetics, skin care products and hair care products.
